GlobalSport CMS website design is fit for selection

At Urban Giants Design we’ve been designing and developing custom built CMS websites for years, and we always have one eye on emerging technologies and developments so we can keep things fresh and help differentiate our clients from their competition.

GlobalSport Ltd focus on sport scholarship opportunities for young people, in addition to sports education and coaching. It was therefore very important to consider this when designing and developing their website, to ensure it was professional but engaging for this age range.

With smart phones playing a large part in young peoples lives, even something as simple as navigating from one page to another had to be made more tactile and exciting. With this in mind we had a look beyond the standard way of navigating and transitioning from one page to another within a CMS website. Considering the content, pages and sub pages can be controlled by the site administrator and would then be dynamically loaded into each page on demand, this wasn’t such an easy task to achieve.

We decided to follow the standard way of clicking on a page title to start with, but this would then generate a more exciting response than usual. When you select a new page the content below slides horizontally to display the corresponding selected page. It also calculates how far from the current page the new content is and adjusts the speed and velocity accordingly to keep the selection responsive and useful. In addition to the standard selection you, as a user or visitor, can slide through the pages using the next and previous arrows either side of each content page. The only problem with this is you find yourself sliding the pages for fun and it gets a little addictive.

We’ve also added more tactile sliding functionality to the login panel for the Players Lounge, along with the functionality within the Athletes page to search through the individuals and sports disciplines.

All of these additional functionality changes make the site more engaging to use for younger people, whilst retaining the professional element for organisations, educational establishments and companies looking to commercially engage with GlobalSport.

It’s vitally important for us to anticipate, consider and plan for the end user of any website, we have to know who they are, what they expect of you, and what they want to hear before we begin to design and develop anything. This is true of any creative project we undertake.

Due to the fact we develop our own custom built content management system, and don’t use any “out-of-the-box” solutions, it allows us to be fully flexible over what we can do for our clients to ensure they get the best result possible.

Outdoor Advertising Campaign for UK Tanning Giants

Urban Giants Design were recently approached by UK tanning giants, The Tanning Shop, to produce an outdoor advertising campaign to raise awareness of their new Leeds store.

The Tanning Shop is currently the largest tanning chain in the UK, with over 100 stores located nationwide, in addition to their products and equipment elements of the business both off and online.

Advertising space in telephone boxes at key locations within Leeds City Centre had been booked by the client to increase brand awareness, with the intention of driving business to the new store. The advertising campaign was intended to be lifestyle led, with a focus on the stores contact details and location. The advertising campaign would connect with an introductory in-store promotion.

We explored the concept of booking a “6 minute holiday”, along with the topical subject of a “staycation”, to communicate that the sunbed sessions are a little break away almost like a mini holiday during your busy day.

Initially we explored the concept of a boarding pass design for the voucher which would be used for the in-store promotion element, using the concept that the reception area is the departure lounge and you need a boarding pass in order to obtain your mini holiday and redeem your discount.

Following on from this we continued the “staycation” and mini holiday theme through to the telephone box on street advertising, with lifestyle shots to suit. We utilised the existing brand colours to create striking areas of interest for the passer by. We played with the double meaning of ‘break’, as a large number in the city centre may use the shop during their break from work on a lunchtime etc.

New CMS Website for Seaham Windows

Two years ago now we were approached by North East based windows, doors & conservatory company, Seaham Windows, to design and develop a brand identity for them to launch their new business. Their business is growing impressively and as such we’ve recently been invited back to advise and support them on how to grow and develop their marketing and brand strategy further.

Originally Seaham Windows launched with a modest and more basic brochure style website, designed to raise brand awareness and give them a digital presence, which they’ve now outgrown as expected. They have developed and expanded the business to offer a wider service range for their customers, and as such have a great deal more to offer, along with a broader portfolio of examples to exhibit.

After discussions with Seaham Windows we designed and developed a new website which would feature the full range of services offered, whilst driving the focus towards the main core services. In addition to this we’ve clearly sign posted the main points of contact, along with the important guarantees and accreditations.

We were also extremely keen to make the site very easy to navigate and high in visuals, as it’s easier to see what style window or conservatory you would like from a photo rather than a description or technical specification. On top of this we’ve also added in a video showreel, downloadable PDF brochure, and the Seaham Windows radio advert, all of which are available on demand.

The website, www.seahamwindows.com ,  is supported and driven by our own custom built content management system (CMS), which allows our clients full flexibility over the development of their website and content. The CMS gives Seaham Windows the power to easily add new menu options, new pages, edit content, add photographs, manage their image galleries, add and edit animated image sliders for each page, manage search engine responses and Google Adwords. All of this control is easily managed and achieved in minutes without any prior knowledge of websites, it’s as simple as you could imagine. The CMS is accessed via a browser based login, designed for maximum flexibility of use, making it easier for you to update your content whenever and wherever you like.

The website also captures and stores enquiry data through the CMS, allowing Seaham Windows to manage their digital enquiries more efficiently. This is also backed up by detailed website statistics, giving feedback on number of visits, specific pages visited and what times and days are most popular, which is vital feedback and user behaviour profiling which can allow for more intelligent market spending and increase your ROI.
